Routes
Where to run in Seoul.
Seoul is a good running city once you know where to point yourself. These are the routes I run most, and the shortlist a guided run usually grows from. The Han River Bus & Run is the first full route page. The others are being written.
Mangwon · Han River · Seonyudo
My home-ground route. Start in the city, jump into complete greenery, cross two bridges and end up on a hidden island park most Seoulites have never visited.
- 12.3 km
- Easy
- ~1:15 main loop
Namsan Mountain
A real Seoul hill run. A 3.5 km foot-traffic-only loop of up-and-down hills under a closed tree canopy, and the option to keep climbing to N Seoul Tower for the view.
- 7.1 km
- Moderate
- ~55 min hill loop
Yeouido Goguma Loop
A lap around Yeouido island. Named for the goguma (sweet potato) it is shaped like on the map. Flat, fast, ringed by river the whole way.
Coming soonBukchon backstreets
Hanok rooftops and quiet lanes while the old town is still waking up. More looking than racing.
Coming soonGwanghwamun · Cheonggyecheon · Dongdaemun
Straight through the heart of the city along the Cheonggyecheon stream, from Gwanghwamun Square down to Dongdaemun. Below street level, traffic-free, the most unlikely run in central Seoul.
Coming soonThe Great Shebang · Mangwon to Jamsil
The whole river. Mangwon out to Jamsil and back: 20+ km on the north bank, 20+ km on the south. A Han River marathon and a whole-day affair.
Coming soon
The cards marked Coming soon are next on the writing list. Each will get a map, an elevation profile, and honest notes on surface, shade and where to find water. Want them on your own watch? Route packs arrive with the launch.
Run one with me
Better with a local alongside.
A route page tells you where to go. A guided run means someone who has run it hundreds of times is setting the pace, watching the turns, and pointing out what you would miss on your own.
